Life At VTC

Step inside the heart of our campus and discover a community built on determination, growth, and hope. From the buzz of the workshop floor to the quiet focus of an evening study session, life at VTC is about more than learning a trade — it is about belonging to something bigger. Here we share stories, moments, and milestones that capture the everyday journeys of the students, staff, and communities who make VTC a place where ordinary young people achieve extraordinary things.

Muni Seva Ashram Sanchalit Vocational Training Centre | April 2026

There is a particular kind of excitement that fills our campus when something new begins. Not just the buzz of a new batch of students arriving, or the hum of a workshop coming to life - but the deeper, quieter excitement of knowing that a door that did not exist yesterday has just been opened for someone who needed it. That is exactly what the launch of our new CNC Programming Course at VTC feels like to us. And we could not be more proud to share it with you.

So, What Exactly Is CNC Programming?

Simply put, Computer Numerical Control or CNC programming is the skill that tells machines how to cut, shape, and create precise industrial components with accuracy that human hands alone cannot achieve. Every factory, every manufacturing plant, every engineering workshop that produces anything from auto parts to heavy machinery relies on this technology. And right now, across India, there are far more CNC machines than there are skilled people who know how to program and operate them. That gap is exactly where our students come in.

For a young person from a tribal village in Gujarat, learning CNC programming is not just picking up a technical skill - it is gaining entry into one of the most sought-after and well-paying trades in modern industry. It is the kind of skill that does not go out of fashion, because the factories that need it are only growing.

It Started With A Dream — And Two Very Generous Hearts

Honest truth - this course almost did not happen. Like so many good things at VTC, it needed not just vision, but the support of people who believed in that vision enough to act on it. We are deeply, genuinely grateful to Shri Rajenbhai and Nandiniben Shah from Washington State, USA, whose heartfelt contribution made it possible to bring in the hardware needed to get this program running.

Think about that for a moment. A family thousands of miles away, in a different country, a different time zone - choosing to invest in the future of a tribal youth they have never met, in a small training centre in rural Gujarat. That kind of generosity is not just financial - it is an act of faith. And it is the kind of faith that we carry with us into every classroom, every workshop session, and every student success story that follows.

What Our Students Will Actually Learn

We have designed this course the same way we design everything at VTC - backwards from the job. We asked ourselves: what does an employer actually need from a CNC programmer on their first day? And then we built the curriculum around that answer.

Our students will learn to write and read CNC program, set up and operate CNC turning machines, understand tooling, speeds, and machining parameters, and inspect finished components for quality and precision. By the time they walk out of here with their certificate, they will not need hand-holding on the factory floor. They will be ready — genuinely ready — to contribute from day one.

One Course. Many Futures.

Every course we add at VTC is a promise we make to our students - that we will always work to stay one step ahead of the market, so they never have to worry about walking into an industry that has moved on without them. CNC Programming is that promise fulfilled, once again.

For the young men and women who will train in this program, we hope it becomes the beginning of a story they are proud to tell. A story that starts in our workshop, and ends - well, wherever their ambition takes them.

To Shri Rajenbhai and Nandiniben Shah, to every donor, and to every person who has ever believed in what we do here — thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, and on behalf of every student whose life you are quietly, powerfully changing.

Can material success alone bring true fulfilment, or does it require a blend of spiritual development to reach life’s highest state? The remarkable life journey of Hemant Patel stands as a living testament to the idea that true contentment comes from using one’s success to uplift others.

After fifty years of life, having fulfilled his family responsibilities and witnessed his children settle in America, Hemantbhai experienced a profound shift. Despite a highly successful career spanning 30 years in multinational corporations—backed by a B.E. from M.S. University, an M.Tech from IIT, and further studies in the US—he felt a calling to enter the Vanprasthashram (a stage of life dedicated to spiritual pursuit and societal service).

His mission was clear: he wanted to return to India and provide vocational training to the children of poor farmers and tribal communities, helping them become self-reliant.

Finding the Right Path at Muni Seva Ashram

In 2007, Hemantbhai began his search for the right platform in India. After visiting several NGOs across the country, his search concluded at the Muni Seva Ashram in Goraj, Vadodara.

Established in 1980 by Anuben Thakkar, Muni Seva Ashram is a hub of social welfare activities, housing a hospital, schools, a nursing college, and more. Here, he met the institution's chairman, Dr. Vikrambhai. Their visions aligned perfectly. Dr. Vikrambhai entrusted him with 34 acres of land to develop a state-of-the-art Vocational Training Centre. By 2015, Hemantbhai had completely wound up his life in the US and permanently moved to the Ashram to dedicate himself fully to this cause.

Building Futures: The Vocational Training Centre

Since 2014, Hemantbhai has spearheaded the vocational training programs. Instead of offering generic courses, his team researched exactly what industries needed and designed the curriculum accordingly.

Today, the centre offers highly practical courses in more than 10 different trades, including:

  • Welding and Fitting

  • Electrical Systems

  • AC/Fridge Repair

  • CNC Machine Operation

  • Automotive & Tractor Repair

  • Nursing Assistance

  • DGCA Approved Drone Training

  • Computer & Tally

  • CNC Programming -Recently Introduced

The Impact: The centre reaches out to youth in tribal belts like Dang, Valsad, Tapi, Narmada, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, and Dahod. So far, over 5,000 young men and women have been trained and successfully placed in jobs.

The courses are incredibly accessible. For a 6-month residential program, girls are charged a nominal fee of ₹500, and boys ₹1,000—which includes training, boarding, and lodging. While the actual cost of training a student is around ₹90,000, it is subsidized through government grants and generous donations.

What sets this institute apart is its 100% job guarantee. Students are allowed to stay at the ashram until they secure employment. Top companies like L&T and Apollo Tyres actively recruit from the campus.

A Holistic Approach to Life Skills

Hemantbhai understands that technical skills alone are not enough to navigate the modern world. The training center places a massive emphasis on holistic life skills.

Students are taught:

  • Effective Communication and Teamwork

  • Personality Development

  • Time and Stress Management

  • Financial Literacy

Alongside these modern skills, students are introduced to the teachings of the Bhagavad Gita to foster spiritual grounding, equipping them to face any of life's challenges with a balanced mindset.

A Legacy of Service

Hemantbhai Patel’s journey is a beautiful synergy of material capability and spiritual development. By leaving behind a life of comfort in America to build a thriving ecosystem of skill development in rural Gujarat, he has illuminated the lives of thousands of underprivileged youths.

It proves that when physical resources and spiritual growth walk hand-in-hand, they can elevate humanity to its highest potential.
