General Duty Assistant
General Duty Assistant (GDA)
At the heart of every hospital ward is a quiet, dedicated force — the General Duty Assistant. This course trains tribal youth from rural Gujarat to become confident, compassionate, and job-ready healthcare professionals, equipped to serve in hospitals and healthcare facilities across the country.
About The Course
Our GDA program provides students with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to deliver quality patient care. Trainees learn to assist in preparing patient units, provide personal care and comfort, support the nutritional and daily needs of patients, and ensure their safety and dignity at all times — making them an indispensable part of any healthcare team.
From Classroom To Ward — Training At Kailash Cancer Hospital
What truly sets our GDA graduates apart is real-world experience. After completing four months of rigorous in-house training at VTC, every GDA student undergoes practical training at the renowned Kailash Cancer Hospital, one of the region's most respected healthcare institutions. Working alongside experienced medical professionals in a live hospital environment, students gain the confidence, clinical exposure, and professional discipline that no classroom alone can teach. By the time they graduate, they are not just trained — they are fully job-ready and trusted by employers in the healthcare sector.
A Career That Gives Back
For a young person from a tribal community, becoming a General Duty Assistant is more than a career — it is a calling. With guaranteed employment assistance upon completion, our GDA graduates go on to secure stable, meaningful livelihoods in hospitals and care facilities, lifting not just themselves but their entire families out of poverty, one patient at a time.
